2024 Convocation
Weslaco ISD faculty and staff came together at the Sue Peterson Performing Arts Center for the back to school 2024 Convocation. Following the Flashback: Igniting 2024 Like the Old-School ‘90s theme, staff wore vintage attire to celebrate the upcoming 2024-25 school year.
To help inspire the crowd, Weslaco East High School teacher Lamar Jones performed a rendition of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” with the high school dance teams.
The parade of schools showcased our campus’ creativity as they performed to different iconic music and movies of the 1990s.
Superintendent Dr. Richard Rivera presented his vision for the new academic year and described how boys and girls, parents, staff, administration, community and school board are important elements that come together as a puzzle.
The high school mariachi groups closed out the event with a unique rendition of the “Friends” TV show theme song “I’ll be there for you.”
