At Weslaco ISD you will find highly-qualified teachers, administrators, and other support staff that work together every day to ensure a successful future for our future generations.
We support student development and academic success starting as early as Pre-K3. Our Pre-K programs create a strong foundation for students, and are full-day!
We offer free testing to identify children with special needs. This gives our students a head start for receiving services they may need.
Our schools provide campus tours and events for parents to learn more about Pre-K for their children.

OUR SUPERINTENDENT
Dr. Richard Rivera
The Weslaco ISD school board voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Richard Rivera as interim superintendent during a special board meeting held in December. Former longtime WISD superintendent and school member Dr. Rivera, returns after serving as superintendent in Edcouch-Elsa, Monte Alto and Mercedes.
“I’m just happy to be back here,” Dr. Rivera said. “I was here 10 years ago and now I’m back. But I’m more excited, more motivated, more determined than ever before.”
Dr. Rivera spent 53 years serving WISD as a teacher, coach, principal, superintendent and school board trustee.
True to his motto, “Education is the great equalizer,”
Dr. Rivera identified his top priority.
“Every kid at this school district deserves a quality education and they’re going to get it.”
"Prekindergarten Longitudinal Study: An analysis of eligible Texas students who participated in public Pre-K in 1999 showed them today persisting in college at a 6.8 higher rate than their peers who were eligible, but did not attend public Pre-K. "
