Weslaco ISD offers an after school robotics class using the curriculum from FIRST LEGO League. FIRST LEGO League challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers to solve a real-world problem. Weslaco participates in two divisions:

              • JrFLL for grades 2-3, and
              • FLL for grades 4-8.

The FIRST LEGO League Core Values are the cornerstone of this program. All team members and coach mentors learn about the Core Values to guide their practice sessions and competitions.

The Core Values are:

      • We are a team.
      • We do the work. Our coaches and mentors help us learn, but we find the answers ourselves.
      • We share our experiences and discoveries with others.
      • We are helpful, kind, and show respect when we work, play, and share. We call this Gracious Professionalism.
      • We are all winners.
      • We have fun.

Jr. First Lego League

Jr. First Lego League is for students in grades 2-3.

Aqua Adventure is this year's theme. Students will navigate the unchartered waters of this important resource. Students will research where the water used in their daily life comes from, and what happens on its way to homes.

Jr. FLL students will showcase their research and LEGO-built water transport systems in the spring of 2018.

First Lego League

First Lego League is for students in grades 4-8.

This year's theme is Hydro Dynamics. The challenge is to learn about water- how we find, transport, use, or dispose of it. What might become possible when we understand what happens to our water?

FLL participants will present their findings when they compete February 3!
