Soccer player visits students

“I am so thankful to play a sport as a job,” Mikey Lopez told the Weslaco East High School soccer teams.  “It’s a hard journey if you all want to get there.”   As a center mid fielder for the New York City Football Club, Mikey also described his experiences during the under 21 World Cup hosted in Turkey.   The Mission area player recognized the talent of the WEHS students. “There are a lot of good players here that are not getting looks.”

The NCAA All-American encouraged the WEHS soccer players to continue to work for their dream.  “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard,” he told the Wildcats.
