Read Three Program
Another group of three year olds recently ‘graduated’ when they completed all the sessions of the HEB  Read3 program.  HEB, in conjunction with the WISD Parental Involvement Department, celebrated the young readers.

The HEB Read3 is a program that was launched by HEB Stores to promote reading to a child three times a week.  This program helps parents and children with pre-literacy skills and healthy food choices.  Parents learn the importance of reading with their children, receive parenting tips, and learn to make healthy food preparations assisted by our local HEB representatives. Children engage in reading and other activities that are planned to correlate with the book of the week.  After each session each child receives two free books.  Parents who attend all six sessions receive a $25 gift card.

Weslaco ISD works with area businesses like HEB to bring in community resources to Weslaco parents.  Airport Drive, North Bridge and PFC Mario Ybarra elementary schools hosted the program.
