  • reading and mathematics, grades 3-8
  • writing at grades 4 and 7
  • science at grades 5 and 8
  • social studies at grade 8
  • EOC assessments for Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology and US History

STAAR Spanish

STAAR Spanish is available for English language learners (ELLs) in grades 3-5 for

whom an assessment in Spanish provides the most appropriate measure of

academic progress.  Language proficiency assessment committees (LPACs)

are responsible for making assessment decisions for ELLs, and must make

and document test participation decisions in accordance with STAAR

program requirements.

STAAR Alternate 2

STAAR Alternate 2 is an assessment based on alternate academic standards

and is designed for students with significant cognitive disabilities

receiving special education services.  STAAR Alternate 2 is administered in the same

grades/subjects and courses as the STAAR assessments.

TELPAS assesses the progress that ELLs in K-12 make in acquiring the English

language in the domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

The TAKS exit level tests are available in four subject ares: English Language

Arts (ELA), mathematics, science, and social studies.  TAKS is an online

testing program.

The tests are administered in October, March, and July.  Examinees who

were enrolled in grades 9 in 2010-2011 or earlier must pass all four subject

areas to meet assessment graduation requirements for a Texas public

school diploma.  Any eligible student for whom TAKS is a graduation

requirement and is currently enrolled in grade 11, grade 12, or is considered

out-of-school may test during any of the TAKS test administrations..
